BANDIPUR

Located about four hours’ drive from Kathmandu, Bandipur is a picturesque Newari town. Once a busy trading centre for merchants taking the old trade route to Tibet, the thriving town lost its luster after the construction of the Prithvi Highway. With traditional Newari houses and Magar villages dotting the landscape, Bandipur is now a popular weekend getaway and is fast turning into tourist destination. Stroll around the bazaar area lined with traditional houses, hike to a quaint Magar village filled with traditional round adobe houses or explore old temples. For thrill seekers, there’s paragliding or caving (at Siddha Cave) options.

Activities in Bandipur:

1. Heritage Walk: Take a walk around the main bazaar and Tundikhel, the ancient trading centre and vantage point. Visit old temples and ancient buildings.

2. Go Caving: Explore Siddha Gufa(cave), the largest cave in Nepal, and witness its wonderful stalactite and stalagmite formations.

3. Village Tour: Take a tour to a neighbouring Magar village and observe traditional Magar culture.

4. Paragliding: Watch the green Marshyangdi valley unfold while soaring like a bird. Paragliding flight lasts for about thirty to forty minutes.
