Day 2: Morning at Pashupatinath temple, Pharping and Dakshinkali

After breakfast, we head out for a Morning tour of Pashupatinath temple for worship and then begin a scenic drive 18 km south of Kathmandu to Pharping on the valley rim; Pharping is perched on a hilltop with a Buddhist monastery. The main attraction here is an elaborate 17th-century temple which houses a gilded image of Goddess Bajra Jogini. Other fascinating sights here include a cave and a hand-imprint of the Buddhist saint Padmasambhav on the rock face over its entrance. After this is done, we cruise down 4 Km further south of Pharping on the valley rim to the temple of Dakshinkali dedicated to the Hindu goddess Kali. The shrine is especially crowded on Tuesdays and Saturdays when animal sacrifices are offered to the deity. On the way lies Chobhar gorge. The myth goes that Bodhisattva Manjushree is said to have cut an incision here to drain out the lake which once covered the valley. There is a small but picturesque temple of Adinath on the top of a hill from where one can get great views of the snow-capped mountains. After this we drive down to Kathmandu for an overnight at our hotel.

Day 3: Transfer to Panauti & over night at Dhulikhel

After breakfast, we head down to the ancient newari town of Panauti, located 32km away from Kathmandu and known as one of Nepal's principal cultural heritage sites.

The small town which is located at the confluence of Roshi khola (river) and Bungamati khola has some of the oldest temples in Nepal. Panauti's pride, Indreshwor Temple, built in 1294 AD is one of the oldest temples in Nepal. It is also the largest pagoda style temple in Nepal. Durbar Square, located in the town center is another major attraction of the town. Panauti is famous for its rich Newari culture, festivals and exquisite woodcarving. The Panauti Jatra, a three-day chariot festival celebrated every year at the end of monsoon and  the Makar Mela held every 12 years at the confluence of Roshi and Bungamati rivers are the two major festivals observed in Panauti. From here on, we drive down to the quiet little resort town of Dhulikhel to enjoy a lovely sunset followed by a spectacular sunrise in the morning. We spend an overnight in this quiet little peaceful town. At eventide, its tantalizing watching the sparkling lights of Bhaktapur & Kathmandu from this town which has some great vantage points. Overnight Dhulikhel

Day 4: Drive back to Kathmandu via Sanga (Tallest Shiva statue in the world)

We cruise back to Kathmandu via Sanga to see the Kailashnath Mahadev Statue which is said to be the world's tallest Shiva statue. It is situated in Sanga, the border of Bhaktapur and Kavrepalanchwok districts in Nepal which is about 20 km from Kathmandu. The statue is 144 feet high and made using copper, zinc, concrete and steel.
