Trip Dossier

Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu

Transfer from airport to hotel. A representative from our office will be there to receive you at the Tribhuvan International Airport. At the hotel, you will be briefed on your itinerary.

Day 2: KTM sightseeing Pashupatinath & Budhaneelkantha – Fly Nepalgunj (1 hr)

Visit Pashupatinath Temple, one of the sacred Hindu pilgrimage spots dedicated to Lord Shiva and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temple lies on the banks of the holy river Bagmati. Also visit Narayanthan to see the massive statue of Lord Vishnu, reclining on a bed of coiled serpents. Transfer to airport. Board a domestic flight bound for Nepalgunj. Overnight at a hotel or guest house in Nepalgunj.

Day 3: Fly Nepalgunj - Simikot (50 mins)- Heli flight to Hilsa(22mins)-Drive Purang (1 hr)

Catch an early flight to Simikot via a domestic carrier. From Simikot, board a helicopter and fly to Hilsa. Have refreshments at a local guest house.  Trek for about 45 mins to reach Sher, the Tibetan border town. After your documents are verified and checked by border officials, board a vehicle and drive (1 hr) to Purang.

Day 4: Rest at Purang (4200m)

Today we take a day off to acclimatize. We let our body get accustomed to Tibet’s thin air before going higher.

Day 5: Drive Purang to Mansarover (4560m)-3 hrs

From Purang we take a scenic drive to Mansarover Lake via Rakshas Tal. We stop by Rakshas Tal and Mansarover and take in the beauty of the surroundings, light incense and perform Puja and if possible take a purification dip in the lakes’ sacred waters.

Day 6: Drive to Yam Dwar - First day of Parikrama to Dirupuk (5160m)

We drive for two hours to Yam Dwar(4730m). The ‘Yam Dwar’ (Gateway of Yanraj’s abode) is a chorten with a passage. It is believed that one has to enter Kailash- abode of Lord Shiva by passing through Yamaraj’s (Lord of Death) door. From Yam Dwar we begin our Kailash Parikrama. Trek or ride a pony to Dirupuk(5160m). Overnight at guest house.
Note: As Kailash Parikrama can be physically taxing those who don’t feel like exerting themselves will stay at Darchen and wait for the rest of the group to complete the parikrama

Day 7: Second Day of Parikrama- to Zuthulpuk(4670m)

Wake up early and continue with the Kailash parikrama, retracing the same path millions of devotees have treaded. Today’s trek is extremely strenuous as we walk for more than 8 hours traversing the high Drolma La(5630m) pass. While descending to Zuthulpuk, you get to view Gauri Kunda, the sacred lake where Goddess Parvati created Ganesh while taking a bath. Overnight at a guest house or tented camp.

Day 8: Third Day of Parikrama- Chongdo- drive to Purang or Hilsa

End your Kailash parikrama with a walk to Chongdo. From Chongdo board a vehicle and drive to Purang. If it’s early and if weather permits we cross over to Hilsa.

Day 9: Fly Hilsa-Simikot-Kathmandu

From Hilsa we charter a helicopter and fly to Simikot. From Simikot fly to Nepalgunj. From Nepalgunj airport we catch a connecting flight to Kathmandu.

Day 10: Depart Kathmandu
