Day 1 Arrive in Lhasa

Fly into Lhasa or enter the city via the overland route from mainland China or Nepal. Gonggar Airport lies about an hour’s drive from Lhasa. Our representative will meet you at the airport or the designated stop and escort you to your hotel. At the hotel you will be briefed on your itinerary.

Day 2 -3 Lhasa Sightseeing - Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Market, Sera & Drepung Monasteries

We spend two days in Lhasa exploring its cultural gems. We visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple. We walk through the hallowed grounds of Sera and Drepung monasteries - important centres of Tibetan Buddhism. And wind our way through the busy Barkhor market, filled with traditional shops and devout pilgrims prostrating in front of the Jokhang Temple.

Day 4 Drive to Shigatse via Gyantse (Visit Yamdroktso Lake, Phalkor Monastery, Kumbum Stupa)

Today we take a scenic drive to Shigatse. En route we visit Yamdrok Tso, an enchanting fresh water lake. Surrounded by hills and mountains, the lake is sacred to the Tibetans.  At Gyantse we visit Phalkor Monastery and Kumbum Stupa. While the Phalkor Choede Monastery houses monks from various sects, the iconic multi-dimensional Kumbum Stupa houses thousands of images of Buddhist deities. Later we continue on the route to Shigatse. On reaching Shigatse we check into our hotel and rest.  

Day 5 Shigatse to Rongbuk(5000m) via Shegar(4050m)

From Shigatse we take the road to Rongbuk via Shegar. En route we pass high passes of Gyamtso La (5220m) and Tropu La(4950m) and stunning Himalayan vistas of Himalayan peaks -  Makalu, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Shisapangma and Everest. On reaching Rongbuk stay overnight at a guest house. Rongbuk is named after Rongbuk Monastery, an old Buddhist monastery that lies at the base of Mount Everest (North Face).

Day 6 Hike to EBC (5100m) – Drive to Shigatse(3900m)

Today, hike up to the base of the world’s highest peak Mount Everest. If too tired to climb up you can take a pony ride to the base of the mountain. Take pictures and soak in the majestic vistas of the mountain and the fascinating glaciers. Later, drive back to Shigatse.

Day 7 Drive Shigatse to Lhasa

Take the road to Lhasa. Drive around five hours to reach the capital city.

Day 8 Depart Lhasa

Depart Lhasa via air or overland. Our representative will drop you to the airport or to the point of departure.
