Fly into Lhasa or enter the city via the overland route from mainland China or Nepal. Gonggar Airport lies about an hour’s drive from Lhasa. Our representative will meet you at the airport or the designated stop and escort you to your hotel. At the hotel you will be briefed on your itinerary.

Day 2 -3: Lhasa Sightseeing - Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkor Market, Sera & Drepung Monasteries

We spend two days in Lhasa exploring its cultural gems. We visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple. We walk through the hallowed grounds of Sera and Drepung monasteries - important centres of Tibetan Buddhism. And wind our way through the busy Barkhor market, filled with traditional shops and devout pilgrims prostrating in front of the Jokhang Temple.

Day 4: Lhasa - Ganden Monastery(3800m)- Lhasa

After an early breakfast we drive to Ganden Monastery, about 50km from Lhasa.  The monastery belongs to the Gelugpa Sect and is an important centre of learning. Established in the 15th century the monastery has several halls and chapels within its sprawling complex. Located in a hill, the monastery overlooks the beautiful Kyi Chu Valley. After the sightseeing tour we return to Lhasa

Day 5: Drive to Shigatse via Gyantse (Visit Yamdroktso Lake, Phalkor Monastery, Kumbum Stupa)

Today we take a scenic drive to Shigatse. En route we visit Yamdrok Tso, an enchanting fresh water lake. Surrounded by hills and mountains, the lake is sacred to the Tibetans.  At Gyantse we visit Phalkor Monastery and Kumbum Stupa. While the monastery houses monks from various sects the iconic multi-dimensional Kumbum stupa houses thousands of images of Buddhist deities. Later we continue on the route to Shigatse. On reaching Shigatse we check into our hotel and rest.

Day 6: Shigatse Sightseeing - Drive Lhasa

After an early breakfast we head to Tashilhunpo Monastery. One of the six monasteries of the Gelugpa Sect, Tashilhunpo lies at the base of Drolma Ri. It is the seat of the Panchen Lama and within the monastery grounds are tombs of the earlier Panchen Lama. The annual Thangka festival is held inside the monastery’s complex where giant Thankas (scroll paintings) depicting the life or teachings of Buddha is unfurled.
