Trip Dossier

Day 1 - Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m)

On arrival in Kathmandu, you will be received by our representative and will be transferred to your hotel. After checking into your rooms, you could relax at your pace and later in the day go for a stroll down town to get familiar with your surroundings. It even helps you get friendly with the locals and observe local lifestyles. In the evening your senior guide from our office will visit you at your hotel to brief you about your village excursion. You then have supper and go to bed. It’s your first night in the valley of the gods, temples [probably the most in the world] and happy go lucky cows set free after doing their time.

Day 2 - Kathmandu to Changunarayan (1500m) and then to Nagarkot (2175m)

Today is when our actual excursion begins. After breakfast, we drive to Changu Narayan which is situated approximately 20 km east of Kathmandu. Changunarayan is said to be the oldest temple of Kathmandu valley and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage monument. It is said to have been built by King Hari Dutta in 323 AD. We then hike up or drive down to Nagarkot, if we hike, our day will read like this: our first night will be spent here in this honeymoon resort on the tour. Walking through pine forest along the ridge through quiet villages with splendid views of the valley and mountains we arrive at Nagarkot. It is one of the most panoramic destinations in Nepal for serene landscapes, mountain views that include Mt. Everest and magnificent sunrise and sunset viewing experiences. Overnight at hotel

Day 3 - Nagarkot to Dhulikhel (1440m)

Early in the morning we can enjoy sunrise views from our resort itself. After breakfast, we start a gentle walk for the first hour and go through the pine forest down hill enjoying the Himalayan vistas on the way. Afterwards, you walk through paddy field and small villages which provide you information about the lifestyle of villagers in the Balthali village tour. Approximate walk of five to six hours will take us to Dhulikhel; an ancient town situated 30 km East of Kathmandu. The Newar town of Dhulikhel offers a traditional atmosphere along with spectacular views of the Himalayan range – with views of peaks like Dorje Lakpa (6966m.), Gauri Shankar (7,145m.) and Langtang (7,324m.). You can have a complete superb view of the snowy ranges from Karyolung in the east to Himalchuli in the west. The old part of this town is an interesting area to wander around with some fine old Nepali houses that have been standing for over a 100 years and we also visit several interesting temples that date back for centuries. Overnight at your hotel

Day 4 - Dhulikhel to Namo Buddha (1982m) and then to Balthali village (1730m)

After breakfast at Dhulikhel, we walk to Namo Buddha, situated on a hill above Panauti. It takes about three hours to reach from Dhulikhel. There is an amazing legend related to the Buddha, which is commemorated by an ancient stone slab and a stupa with the all – seeing eyes of Lord Buddha. Later, you walk another three hours and reach the enchanting Balthali village offering excellent mountain views at an altitude of 1730m. We then enjoy our first relaxation day on our Balthali Village excursion. Your day at Balthali will be like this: Today we explore villages on our Balthali village tour. We will visit a typical Tamang village, Dada Gaon, where a Buddhist community lives. This is a very traditional and secluded area from the modern world. Hereabouts, people and animals peacefully coexist with one another. You then walk to Pada Gaon at (2100m) from where you can get extremely good views of the whole Himalayan range to the north and beautiful green forest of the Mahabharata range. We walk to a natural hamlet of nature and follow the banks of the Ladku River back to Balthali for our night of home stays with the local folks…you’ll love this as it gives you deep insights into the ancient cultures of the people you live with. Overnight at Balthali village resort.

Day 5 - Balthali to Kathmandu for final departure

Today is the last day of our tour. We set off early after breakfast; we finally drive back to Kathmandu to the airport for our departure home.
